Bonus shares add units at no cost. CDSC's recorded WACC can differ if a purchase source was entered differently in MeroShare.

How WACC is calculated

WACC = total cost of all purchases ÷ total units.

  • IPO, FPO and right shares: units × issue price, usually Rs 100.
  • Bought on NEPSE: units × price, plus broker commission, SEBON fee (0.015%) and DP charge (Rs 25).
  • Bonus shares: added units, no added cost.

Your WACC is what capital gains tax is measured against when you sell, so check it in MeroShare before you do. The share calculator shows the tax on a sale at any price.

Worked example

  1. 10 IPO shares at Rs 100: Rs 1,000.
  2. 20 shares on NEPSE at Rs 400: Rs 8,000 + Rs 28.80 commission + Rs 1.20 SEBON fee + Rs 25 DP charge = Rs 8,055.
  3. 3 bonus shares: Rs 0.
  4. 33 units for Rs 9,055, so WACC ≈ Rs 274.39.
